Welcome to the WAY Game - A Virtual Challenge!

There is a learning curve.
There is a learning curve.

"Learn to play and play to learn." "To Remembered and be remembered."

To my WAY Game friends,

I’m excited to officially invite you to our first-ever virtual edition of the WAY Game — a 7-game challenge designed to help you discover your talents, and connect with family and friends through creativity and teamwork - through the WAY Game.

Whether you're a teacher, student, parent, or lifelong learner, this game is for YOU.

What is the WAY Game?

It’s a fun and flexible learning experience where Players gather online, are assigned teams and play one round (or more) of the WAY Game. There are seven games in a round. Play one-on-one, or two-on-two. Use WAY Cards to determine teams. The Host writes the player's first name and the seven WAY Game rankings on a blank WAY Card. The Host will use WAY Cards to randomly assign teams, then teammates, and then one of the seven games.

The Host Will

Run the game online. More to come.

Want to pass on your passion for _____? Create a WAY Game Card or digital lesson plan and share it. Teach your kids your love of _____. I'll be showing the group how to do this along the way in preparation for the Coffee Cup Tournament in the fall of 2025.

AI is a game-changer, and in the coming months, I'll be demonstrating how you can become a Way Game Host and play with your family and friends, passing on not only a great game but also valuable lifelong learning lessons that build lasting and grateful relationships.

Originally designed for student teachers, the WAY Game is being adapted for online play with CAP Notebook 2025.

How do you play?

We’ll meet virtually and play one round of each of the 7 WAY Games:

  1. Answer It

  2. Act It

  3. Draw It

  4. Spell/Define It

  5. Question It

  6. Speak It

  7. Move/Groove It

To get started, follow these 3 easy steps:

Step 1: Grab a CAP Notebook (or print a template from thewaygame.ca or playway.ca)

Step 2: Open to a random graphic and write down the page number. That’s your theme for the game!

Step 3: Rank the seven WAY Games from best to least favourite, with one being the best. Use a process of elimination. Fill out Page 2 ("Today") and complete your first CAP Note based on what you did yesterday. (Page 8). Then trace Erin sliding on Page 9.

Set up your camera, choose your play space, and create 1 question or activity for each of the 7 games based on your graphic. (Don’t worry, we’ll help if you need ideas.)

Our Game Host will:

  • Pair up teams or assign head-to-head challenges

  • Moderate rounds

  • Help judge performances

  • Keep things fun and flowing

Pro Tips for virtual players:

  • Be expressive and support your teammates

  • Let your creativity shine

  • Share the spotlight during speaking/acting games

  • Most importantly: HAVE FUN. This isn’t about perfection — it’s about discovery and connection.

 BONUS:

CAP Notebooks can be used as class fundraisers! Teachers can raise money for student supplies, project materials, and prizes while students develop real-life skills.

The WAY Game is powered by SWAY, our holistic approach to learning that integrates AI, gamified learning, and project-based experiences.
